Gita Panchamrit - Learn, Live & Lead

Gita Panchamrit is an initiative of Chinmaya Mission that seeks to awaken love and reverence for the Bhagavad Gita in every heart. Through five carefully chosen verses—simple to learn, inspiring to reflect upon, and uniting in spirit—it offers a glimpse of the Gita’s timeless relevance. The first three verses guide what we, as seekers, can do; the last two reveal what Bhagavan does when we surrender in faith.

Shlokas. 1 Essence.

A simple way for everyone to connect with the Bhagavad Gita

1. Take Charge of Your Life and Rise Up (Gita Chapter 6 Verse 5)

uddharedātmanātmānaṁ nātmānamavasādayet,

ātmaiva hyātmano bandhurātmaiva ripurātmanaḥ. (5)

Let a man lift himself by his own Self alone and let him not lower himself; for, this Self alone is the friend of oneself and this Self is the enemy of oneself.

Poetic Rendition:

Lift yourself, by yourself, through it all,
do not put yourself down at all.
You are your best friend, strong and true,
you are your worst enemy too.

2. Do your best and leave the rest (Gita Chapter 2 Verse 47)

karmaṇyevādhikāraste mā phaleṣu kadācana,

mā karmaphalaheturbhūrmā te saṅgo’stvakarmaṇi. (47)

Thy privilege is to work only, but never to its fruits; let not the fruit of action be thy motive, nor let thy attachment be to inaction.

Poetic Rendition:

You have the power in doing the deed,

But not the claim to the outcome indeed.

Let not desire for results be your drive,

Nor fall to inaction—rise and strive.

3. Dedicate it all (Gita Chapter 9 Verse 27)

yatkaroṣi yadaśnāsi yajjuhoṣi dadāsi yat,

yattapasyasi kaunteya tatkuruṣva madarpaṇam. (27)

Whatever you do, whatever you eat, whatever you offer in sacrifice, whatever you give in charity, whatever you practise as austerity, O Kaunteya, do it as an offering to Me.

Poetic Rendition:

All your actions, whatever you eat,

every effort to rise, the offerings we repeat.

Whatever you give in charity, small or tall,
dedicate it to divinity — dedicate it all.

4. Shri Krishna’s Assurance - I will take care of you (Gita Chapter 9 Verse 22)

ananyāścintayanto māṁ ye janāḥ paryupāsate,

teṣaṁ nityābhiyuktānāṁ yogakṣemaṁ vahāmyaham. (22)

To those men who worship Me alone, thinking of no other, to those ever self-controlled, I secure for them that which is not already possessed (yoga) by them, and preserve for them what they already possess (kṣema).

Poetic Rendition:

Think of divinity—alone, none beside,

With self-control your constant guide.

Divinity will grant what you truly need,

Protect your gifts, and bless each deed.

5. Bhagavan Frees Us from All Bondages (Gita Chapter 18 Verse 66)

sarvadharmānparityajya māmekaṁ śaraṇaṁ vraja,

ahaṁ tvā sarvapāpebhyo mokṣayiṣyāmi mā śucaḥ. (66)

Abandoning all dharmas, (of the body, mind and intellect), take refuge in Me alone; I will liberate thee, from all sins; grieve not.

Poetic Rendition:

Renouncing the roles, identities fade,

the masks once so heavy in silence are laid.

Take refuge in the one Self within,
grieve not, for the divine will free you from sin.
